A new leak provides more details about the upcoming iPhone 17 family’s design changes. While the base model will feature slight design tweaks, the Pro models will adopt a new “horizontal large matrix design.”
The entire lineup will also supposedly use narrow-bezel LIPO flat screens, a technology that enables even thinner bezels than current solutions.
Rumors and leaks indicate Apple will give the iPhone 17 lineup the biggest design refresh in years. More specifically, this year will bring a new rear camera island design that stretches the phone’s width on some models. The design change could even slide the Apple logo downward on the iPhone 17 Pro.
Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo now provides more details on Apple’s planned design changes. Supposedly, the base iPhone 17 will see only minimal design tweaks and will closely resemble the current model. He says the Pro models will adopt a “new horizontal large matrix design” and feature a 5x high-resolution periscope lens.
If rumors are anything to go by, Apple will upgrade the iPhone 16 Pro‘s 5x 12MP shooter to a 48MP sensor this year.

Apple will seemingly use a new LIPO display technology across the entire iPhone 17 lineup. This will further reduce the display bezels on the devices. Many Android manufacturers are also expected to use this new display tech on their next-gen phones to slim the side bezels.
Previous rumors indicated Apple might bring a 120Hz ProMotion panel to the base iPhone 17. However, today’s leak does not mention anything about this.
As per Digital Chat Station, the iPhone 17 family will feature a new Dynamic Island-style UI. This interface is apparently not a part of the current iOS 26 beta. Instead, Apple will showcase it while unveiling the iPhone 17 lineup this fall.
Based on all the leaks, it seems Apple has some big design changes planned for the iPhone 17 family.
