Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania to form joint brigade

During his visit to Poland, Pres Poroshenko visited the barracks of the future Polish-Ukrainian-Lithuanian brigade to be based in Poland, the president’s website reports Dec. 18.

Poroshenko talked to the Polish servicemen, saying the brigade will become a symbol of military cooperation of the three peoples and a good school for training military skills.

“Such cooperation will allow Ukraine army to learn NATO standards and raise its combat potential,” he said. The brigade is to be formed and begin operating in the first half of 2015.

The Ukrainian president was shown the weaponry and modern communications systems as well as staff, tactical medical and communications vehicles.
